Role: Choreographer, Performer                                                                              Created with: Claire Hermans                                                                                      Premiere: September 2024

In Plastic Life, we explore the duality of this ubiquitous material-artificial yet malleable-utilizing plastic bags as both medium and metaphor. As the audience surrounds a colossal mound of plastic bags, the performance delves into the core of our modern existence, where life intertwines with the presence of this material. Instead of passively succumbing, Plastic Life becomes a ritual of embodiment-an invitation to confront emerging challenges.

Antonin writes about the piece: Oscar Wilde said that we destroy the thing we love the most and it’s often true. Love arrives exactly when love is supposed to and love leaves exactly when love must. I wonder where it is going. This piece speaks about love, its beauty and its cruelty.

What is normal? It’s normal for a girl to have pink things and a boy to like blue things. It’s normal that we don’t dress too strangely. That we don’t stand out too much. It is normal that we are on time, eat with cutlery and do not talk too loud. Normally we eat animals, but not dogs or cats. That’s weird.

In this research Tijmen is looking for a movement without intention: being in movement. He attempts to reach that state by enlarging the ‘small dance’ we do while we stand still.
